Blue and Silver Christmas Day 1 - JOY Sign

These are my kitchen cabinet doors. If you'll remember from this post, I ripped a few cabinets out on my own while prepping for the new cabinets to arrive.

Here's what I started with:

I started out with three of these. Gave them a light sanding. And then two of them I went ahead and just spray painted with this:

I was thinking it might be cool to do the crackle finish on these like I did on this project...maybe give it an icicle look??  But mostly it just ended up looking like crap didn't turn out as good as I'd hoped. The light blue really just didn't seem to sit that well on top of the silver. Something just wasn't working. And I had loved them plain, so I decided to change my plans.
I gave those two another coat of the silver and then primed the last one and then sprayed it. It worked MUCH better to prime first, and the primer is cheaper than the metallic spray (as opposed to doing two layers of the metallic).

Then I hung them. They have a bit of a lip on the back, so I skipped adding the picture hangers to the back.

Add a few letters cut out of scrapbooking 12x12 "glitter paper", throw on some ribbons and a few bells, and there ya go (or viola as I see many accidentally type...he he he).

Charlie
