Day 2 - Christmas Movies

Aloha!

I hope my Christmas music post got you at least a LITTLE excited for the holiday season.

Today we're going to laugh a little. I love to laugh. I always laugh the very hardest when I'm surrounded by family, and we inevitably either start talking about past funny adventures, or favorite funny movie quotes. We're a movie-quoting family. And since you already know we're Christmas nuts, you can guess that lots of our favorite quotes come from Christmas movies.

Hands down, our favorite Christmas movie was none other than:

A Christmas Story

Just a few of the gems from this classic flick:

"Fra -GEEE -LAY. Must be Italian"
"It's a major award!"
"He looks like a deranged Easter bunny."
"I can't put my ARMS down!"
"Show me how the piggies eat."
"It was...SOAP POISONING!"
"Fa ra ra ra ra"

And of course, "You'll shoot your eye out!"

My kids are still a little small for the humor in A Christmas Story, though, so that's one I save to laugh my butt off with my siblings and fam. With my own little fam, our favorite is:

Elf

"Buddy the elf, What's your favorite color?"
"Did you HEAR that?" ((yes, burp jokes are even popular amongst a house full of girls))
"He's an angry elf."
"Watch out! The yellow ones don't stop!"
"Have you seen these toilets?! They're ginormous!"
"My finger has a heartbeat."

Also a big hit with my girls is:

The Santa Clause

"Does this look like a little weight to you?"
"Thanks, but I'm seeing someone in wrapping."

And a couple I have to watch every season at least once, but my kids don't really love:

(They're a little afraid of the Grinch.)

Then there are a few that we might not watch every year faithfully, but some other families definitely do, so they deserve a mention:

Deck the Halls

Miracle on 34th Street

The Polar Express

Scrooged

Christmas Vacation

Home Alone

Jingle All the Way

White Christmas

Christmas with the Cranks

Jack Frost

And the many other Christmas Carol versions including Mickey's!

And, of course, our non-traditional family favorites. I love this one and watch it every year:

While you Were Sleeping

And while I no longer watch this one, I have to put this up for my dad. It's his "Christmas" favorite...

Die Hard

:)

Did I miss any? What's your family's favorite?

Aloha and Mele Kalikimaka!

Charlie

"God bless us, everyone!"

  1. Oh this is so timely! I just pulled out my Christmas movies last night (all 33 of them) to decide in what order I wanted to watch them as Christmas approaches! Some of them have standard places. I always watch the Walton's Christmas movie on Thanksgiving. And we *always* watch A Christmas Story on Christmas Day. Irreverent, but so stinking funny!! I love the old movies -- like Christmas in Connecticut, Holiday Inn, White Christmas, and The Bishop's Wife! And definitely The Santa Clause and ELF is probably the funniest movie EVAH! Oh gosh, I'm so ready!! LOL!!

You feeling strong my friend? Call me elf one more time. Baahaahaa!! (I may have to put that one in today.) :)

  2. Oh, I love Christmas movies. Our favorites include many of yours plus Love Actually and Scrooge, the musical with Albert Finney...my favorite of the Dickens versions. And yes, we quote A Christmas Sory all year long:-)
