Day 3 - Christmas Lights & Outdoors

Are we in the holiday spirit yet?

Well, today's post is just to show you that I'm not alone in this world of Christmas crazies. In fact, I'm pretty tame compared to some of the people you will be seeing today. :)

A couple years ago, we lived in Alta Loma, CA. We LOVED it there. Wonderful people, nice weather, close to everything and anything but still the 'burbs. And my favorite part...there's a whole street full of Christmas crazies! Now, I know what you're thinking, "My city has a street like that, too. Everyone decorates, and cars drive by all the time."  Let me tell you, I've lived all over the world, and I have yet to see as much Christmas craziness as this road! Police barricade it off every night during the Christmas season, and you can only drive through if you have a special pass saying you're a resident. Everyone else walks. These are full-blown, all-out decorated homes and yards.

A. MAZING. People sell hot chocolate and popcorn from their driveways to help offset some of the outrageous costs of having the lights going all the time. :) Our friends have a fabulous party every year with dozens of people in and out through the night. Everyone hangs out in the front yard and watches musical performances the other neighbors have hired and just enjoys chatting, people-watching, and eating good food.  I'd be a very happy girl to live on that street for the rest of my life. It doesn't hurt that our kids' "adopted" grandparents live there, too. :)

So here's a tribute to Thoroughbred St.

But Christmas crazies aren't just found in the US...check out some of Australia's finest:

I like all the different colors used in this one:

This one's a little long, but they've got an amazing display, and it would be nice to not have the exact same song playing over and over and over, right?

And what would an "outdoors" post be without some fun inspiration pics?!

Tiffany at That Village House does a great job of gussying up her front porch DIY-style.

The Inspired Room has some amazing ideas for outdoor decor!

What's your outdoor style? All-out lights? A few simple items?

Do you like lights with some fun, bright colors? Or the classic all-white?

Aloha and Mele Kalikimaka!
