Happy Martha's Day! Errrrr.... Mother's Day? ;)

If you happen to be my mother, you might want to skip this post, or prepare to ruin your surprise! One of the drawbacks of being a blogger is having to spill the beans about gifts before the holidays actually arrive. Good thing my mom barely even knows I have a blog, right? Chances of her popping in within the next few weeks are slim-to-none, so I think we're safe going ahead with this one.

If you've been following my blog for awhile, you've no doubt seen some of the clock make-overs I've done over the last 1.5 years. Such a simple way to personalize something that's used every day and is so inexpensive!

If you haven't seen them, here's a link to a girls' Parisian clock I did as well as a teacher subway art clock I did. Both have instructions on how to print and do the actual clock make-overs, so I won't redo that part of the tutorial here. I design the clock faces in Adobe InDesign.

I made this particular design before Christmas but wasn't completely in love with it, so I didn't end up sending it. It just felt like it needed something else.

Then I was sent some awesome supplies from Plaid's Martha Stewart line and asked to do a project for Mother's Day. Hmmmm...the wheels started turning on how to beef up the little clock...

I did another haul video for you, so you can see all the great stuff they sent.

All items can be purchased at Michael's and Joann's.

If you're looking through the supplies and looking back at my project, you're probably thinking, "she could have done SO many things with all that stuff!"  Yep, I agree. And I have a million stenciling ideas bouncing around in my head, but somehow they all ended up being for things I want to keep! lol  So I had to stick with the "Mother's Day" thing and make something for my actual mama.

You might also recall my coral wall art that I did for our half bath in Hawaii.

I decided to combine the clock and the three-board idea to make the clock have a bit more substance. I love the ombre trend but haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet, so I thought this might be a great time to test it out. The paint colors had mostly pastels in them, and my mom isn't much into pastels, but she likes pink, so I thought we'd test the waters with pinks and whites.

I was also very excited to try out those amazing paint brushes! I used the largest one, and it was fabulous! I am excited to try the smaller ones on some lettering later this week. Perfect!

I assembled it with paint sticks just like with the coral wall art.

Then I put one small nail in the front in order to hang the clock.

And here she is all finished!

I'm still not 100% sold on the pinks, but the fabulous thing about paint is it's super easy to change!

I should have moved the clock hands before taking the pictures. In case it's hard to read, it says, "The only thing better than having you for a mother is knowing my children have you for a Nana."   :)

What are you giving your mama for Mother's Day?  Does your mom still appreciate your hand-crafted gifts?

So very cute and sweet. (My mom doesn't read my blog either. Or any blog, for that matter.) Great job!

This is such an adorable and practical gift! Great job! I altered a large clock with photos of my 2 brothers and me, and the nine grandchildren, placed them chronologically in the 12 time slots, and my parents absolutely love it. However, it's been about 8 years...we've all changed a bit. Time moves on!

I love this idea! I have a clock I need to do something with. This idea might just work for it. I'll let you know if I do it!
