Girls' Room - Project 3 - Shabby Chic Parisian Clock (AND Freebie!)

My faux Christmas tree bit the dust today, so Christmas decorating has been post-poned yet another day...

Soooo... I found something else to occupy my time.

I went to Walgreens to pick up some pics, and they had a bunch of clocks there at the counter begging me to take them home and give them a better life!  For $5 each, who can resist??  I could envision a possible gift for one of my sweet sisters-in-law or my mom or mom-in-law!!  But, of course, I had to test it out for my girlies first!

They had three or four differnet frames and pics. This one is a silverish color, and there was a gold one and a cherry wooden one that I saw. I decided to try my hand at making my own face since I had seen a VERY similar frame on the PB site recently:

Pottery Barn
While I like their Union Station clock, it's a bit drab for a little girls' room...

I found this one at Ballard that was getting closer to what I wanted, but still not exactly what I was looking for:

Ballard Designs
So I started from scratch using InDesign and Photoshop, and I made one all by myself! Every single tick on the face (trust me, it took some math skills to get each line turned to the right degree/angle...yes, I'm anal like that, but I love math, so it was a treat).

Then, since I didn't want to bother with having an enlarged photo printed, I separated it into two 8x10 pics and then combined them together. Thus the lines became part of the design for this particular one (to detract from the natural line I knew would be there).

Once I had printed them and cut out the main circles, I taped the two together and then cut directly across that middle line I had made. By cutting them on top of each other, it made the two halves fit perfectly together to avoid any gaps that would be there naturally from my unsteady hand.

Here she is all dressed up and ready for the ball  wall...

And here are some lame pics I took the night I made it and like an idiot linked to a few parties...doh! Should have waited. Oh, well.

Here she is propped up against my ugly red kitchen wall (still have to kill that one, but I adiosed the dining room one this weekend!).

Aloha and mahalo,
