Kitchen Island Bead Board Makeover- By Jami

We love this big island we have in our kitchen.

Especially for entertaining and using it to put all the platters and good food on.

Here is a BEFORE picture

We felt like it was kind of an eye sore and plain, so we headed to the hardware store and bought some beadboard and stain.

My hubby measured and cut the wood to fit it on there, and he used a nail gun to keep it on.

We picked out a stain that would go best with our knotty alder cabinets.

(As i was looking at stain.. I had my little 2 year old blond boy right by me playing with his superhero guys, and i look over 2 seconds later, and he is gone! It was the most horrible 10 minutes of my life running like a maniac through Home Depot looking for him. A lady ended up finding him tucked back on a shelf laying out and singing away and enjoying some quiet time! Needless to say, I felt like the worst mom in the world and i have now learned my lesson to keep him strapped in the cart no matter what!)

We used a paint brush, but we found it to work much better to use a rag and rub it in.

We then put a clear coat of Minwax Polycrylic Protective Finish on.

It was a pretty easy project. We did it all in 1 night, and we enjoy it much better!

Thanks for looking!
